Feeling tense and worried can often be caused by life experiences. Fortunately, these feelings usually last for a limited time. However for some people, these feelings are persistent, and severely affect their ability to function properly, and prevent them from living full and happy lives.
Anxiety disorders are debilitating and affect 1 in 20 people at any given time. Anxiety affects the way a person thinks, feels and behaves and may be associated with depression.

Feeling anxious may be something that occurs at a much lesser intensity, though, than that which qualifies as a disorder. It may be that you are plagued by intrusive thoughts that just won't go away, that you find it very hard to sit still anytime, that you have just got to be doing something all the time, that you have some annoying persistent nervous ticks or twinges in your muscles, or you have a lot of trouble getting to sleep. It is possible to learn some focussed strategies that will help to reduce these lower level symptoms as well.
